Ante este escenario, ingenieros y cient\u00edficos proponen frenar su deterioro bloqueando el avance de agua oce\u00e1nica c\u00e1lida, principal causa de la p\u00e9rdida acelerada de hielo.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Conocido como el \u201cglaciar del Juicio Final\u201d, Thwaites aporta cerca del 4 % del aumento anual del nivel del mar. Su colapso total podr\u00eda elevarlo hasta 65 cent\u00edmetros, incrementando de forma severa el riesgo de inundaciones costeras para millones de personas.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>La iniciativa contempla una cortina submarina flexible, anclada al lecho marino, que impedir\u00eda el contacto del agua c\u00e1lida con la base del glaciar.
